The UK’s act for Eurovision 2019 has been confirmed as X Factor star Michael Rice, after he won the You Decide viewer vote on Friday.
The 21-year-old Hartlepool busker – who also won All Together Now last year – beat out five other contestants for the chance to jet to Israel for the live final on 19th May.
Speaking after he was unveiled as the winner, Michael said it was a dream come true after watching the singing competition ‘most of his life.’
During the live show, Michael performed his epic ballad Bigger Than Us as he battled against five other hopefuls: Holly Tandy, Maids, Jordan Clarke, Kerrie-Anne Phillips and Kerrie-Anne Phillips.
However this year the format was changed, with a committee of industry experts choosing the six acts, with a pair each singing the same song.
It was then down to judges Rylan Clark-Neal, Mollie King and Marvin Humes to decide which acts would make it to the final three.
These three were unveiled as Kerrie-Anne, Jordan and Michael, with the viewer vote then opening to decide the overall winner.
