The Voice Australia is ‘facing the AXE’ after eight seasons as bosses predict ‘huge ratings drop’ ahead of show’s new series airing

The Voice Australia is about to kick off its eighth season, but could this series be its last?

According to New Idea, the talent show, which stars the likes of Boy George, Kelly Rowland, Delta Goodrem and Guy Sebastian as celebrity coaches, could be facing the axe.

The publication claims that show bosses are already predicting a huge ratings drop for The Voice’s new series, and those in the know at Channel Nine have admitted it will be the show’s ‘final year’.

Insiders claim that The Voice will suffer a blow in ratings that will barely match up to the numbers it used to bring in its ‘glory day’ years.

They fear that a ratings drop could lead to The Voice losing its celebrity coaches as the lack of viewing figures ‘cannot justify’ the salaries paid out to the stars involved.

‘Ratings wise, they are expecting 800,000 max… obviously, the outrageous coaches’ salaries cannot justify the ratings numbers,’ sources claimed to the magazine.

They added that bosses have ‘dumbed down promos’ in a last-ditch effort’ to boost ratings, but the coaches aren’t on board with the new ‘slapstick’ approach.

Channel Nine declined to comment when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
