Lucy Hale helps a couple out of a rut in steamy trailer for threesome comedy The Unicorn

Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice was a commercial success with its wife-swapping theme in 1969.

Now meet Caleb & Malory & The Unicorn in the first trailer for director Robert Schwartzman’s comedy, released on Friday.

The film stars Nick Rutherford, 34,  as Caleb and Lauren Lapkus, 33, as Malory, a couple who’ve been engaged for four years, who get re-engaged seemingly to fire up their flagging love life. 

Their eyes are opened to sexual possibilities, and the secret to a happy marriage, when they visit Malory’s free-spirited parents in Palm Springs to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

At a wild party, they watch Malory’s mom and dad dirty dancing with a third person – a woman.

A drunk pal of he couple dishes: ‘Your parents got it figured out. They party as in third party…threesomes.’

The news comes as a shock to Malory but it’s Caleb who asks, ‘Is everyone having a threesome except us?’

His irritated fiancee hits back: ‘We could totally have a threesome if we wanted to.’

And that kicks off a wild night as they attempt to properly celebrate their re-engagement.

However, it’s not as easy as it seems.

And their encounter with Jesse, a free-spirited young woman played by Lucy Hale,  takes an intense turn, exposing deeper relationship problems and threatening their future together.

Also featured in the cast are Beck Bennett, Dree Hemingway, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Maya Kazan, John Kapelos, Beverly D’Angelo and Kyle Mooney.

Schwartzman directs and produces from a script by actor Nick, Kirk C. Johnson and Will Elliott.

The Unicorn hits theaters on February 1, with digital and on-demand arriving on February 5.
