‘You absolute god’: Fans go mad for Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes after incredible TRIPLE save in local derby against Saint Etienne

Lyon were able to come from behind to defeat St Etienne in the Rhone-Loire derby on Monday thanks to a last-gasp winner from Moussa Dembele.

However it was goalkeeper Anthony Lopes who also received a lot of the praise for keeping Lyon in the match.

When they were 1-0 down, Lopes made three incredible saves in the space of five seconds to give his team a chance of getting back into it.

A fine piece of play in the box including a lovely back heel lay off looked to give Wahbi Khazri a chance to score, but Lopes got down low to his right to keep it out.

Khazri then kept running to take a shot as the ball rebounded away from the keeper, who stayed low to deflect it into the air. Romain Hamouma was on hand to bring the ball down and take another shot, which Lopes tipped wide with a diving effort to his left.

The Portuguese got up in celebration and roared at his defenders for all the chances they had just let his way.

Of course, fans started going mad on social media after his heroic efforts, with one person calling him ‘an absolute god,’ and another saying ‘we don’t deserve Anthony Lopes.’

Meanwhile, there was talk of him being the ‘Greatest Of All Time,’ with another commenter calling his performance a ‘masterclass.’

The win moves Lyon ahead of rivals St Etienne in the Ligue 1 table up to third, three points behind LOSC. However PSG are running away with the league, 13 points ahead of second place with two games in hand.
