WASHINGTON – Rep. Ilhan Omar attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday after he called out her “all about the Benjamins” comment during a speech at the annual AIPAC conference in Washington.
“From this Benjamin, it’s not about the Benjamins!” Netanyahu told the pro-Israel group, speaking by livestream from Israel.
“The reason Americans love Israel is not because they want our money, it’s because they share our values. It’s because America and Israel share a love of freedom and democracy.”
That was enough to set off Omar, a Muslim-American who was widely condemned for claiming that “It’s all about the Benjamins” for pro-Israel lawmakers.
“This from a man facing indictments for bribery and other crimes in three separate public corruption affairs,” Omar tweeted in response. “Next!
Omar also charged that Netanyahu was partnering with a far-right party that is “the KKK of Israel.”
“Netanyahu is in an alliance with Otzma Yehudit, referred to as the KKK of Israel,’” she said. “Yet Netanyahu chose to focus on … me.”
