Post Malone is standing by artists like Celine Dion and Lady Gaga who are pulling the tracks they worked on with R Kelly from streaming services.
The Better Now rapper was spotted leaving The Grove with actor Jamie Foxx after dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in Los Angeles on Monday night when he spoke on the topic with TMZ.
At first, the 23-year-old musician tried to avoid talking about the controversy surrounding Kelly’s long history of sexual assault allegations.
‘I have no clue,’ Malone said when asked to weigh in on Kelly.
The hip hop star, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, was leaving dinner with Jamie Foxx when he told TMZ he wasn’t sure if he was the right person to address the subject of Kelly.
‘He’s done a lot of f****d up s**t,’ Post said. ‘I have no clue. No comment really.’
When asked about artists pulling their previous collaborations with Kelly in the wake of the #MuteRKelly movement, the star supported the decision.
‘You know what I think – essentially it is the right thing to do. I don’t know, it’s not really my place.’
The camera man pushed back a bit, pointing to Kelly’s level of stardom but Malone wasn’t having it.
‘Well yeah,’ the Rockstar rapper said. ‘I also understand he’s done a lot of big f****d up s**t. So, I guess that’s where I’ll leave it.’
