There’s no sugar coating this — Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was tough.
Between Catherine’s (Debbie Allen) life-threatening surgery and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) visiting her father for the first time in years, there were definitely not enough tissues to go around.
After consulting Koracick (Greg Germann) and Meredith about her spinal tumor earlier in the season, Catherine is finally ready for her risky surgery.
Though Meredith was kicked off the team because she spilled the secret to Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Richard (James Pickens Jr.), it’s probably for the best.
Koracick and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) have spent hours figuring out the best way to attack this tumor and they feel confident in their approach.
Though they both know they’re the right people for the job, that doesn’t stop them from being extremely nervous. Not only are they dealing with a massive tumor, they’re operating on one of the biggest medical legends. No pressure!
Catherine, on the other hand, isn’t nervous. She has a moment to herself in the OR before the surgery, that is until Jackson finds her.
Catherine tells Jackson that before every big moment in her life she’s listened to the song ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’. So naturally, when the time comes for her to go under anesthesia, Jackson makes sure to crank that song on full blast.
