Borussia Dortmund will welcome Paco Alcacer back into the fold for the Bundesliga’s resumption after the Spanish striker recovered from injury.
The 25-year-old – who has scored 12 goals in 12 league matches this season, mainly from the bench – went off with a muscle strain in their last game before the winter break against Borussia Monchengladbach.
But in a boost for the league leaders, Alcacer will be in contention for their trip to RB Leipzig on Saturday, their manager Lucien Favre confirmed.
‘His injury against Gladbach was a strain. It took some time, that’s clear, but now he’s fit and he is able to play,’ Favre said.
‘Of course he didn’t participate in every training session and he didn’t play a game for 90 minutes, but he will be there for sure.’
Dortmund find themselves six points clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich at the half-way points of the season, having lost just a single match so far.
They are chasing their first title since 2011-12 and aiming to break Bayern’s stranglehold on the trophy.
